About Mount Olive

You’ll know when you visit you’ve found something unusual. When you sit in a pew here you're not just a passive receiver; you're a full participant in the liturgy. Worship is the work of the people, and at Mount Olive, we understand that our worship is a holy work we create with God and with each other. Our services are carefully planned, and, we hope, engage you in an experience that stays with you all week.

Some describe us as high-church. We do enjoy reverent liturgy: we kneel, we bow, we burn incense. Our pipe organ is to die for, and we sing in full voice. When the congregation breaks into 4-part harmony or a canon, you'll feel like you're in the midst of the choir.

But it's more than worship. It is our unique community that makes us worth the visit and for many, what calls them to stay. We've been at the corner of 31st and Chicago since soon after our founding in 1909. We've stayed with our neighborhood--and with our neighbors--through many changes over the years. We hear our call to remain in this place and serve God's people here.

Please accept our invitation to worship with us each Sunday at 8:00 and 10:45 a.m. during the fall, winter and spring months (Labor Day through Memorial Day), or at 9:30 a.m. during the summer. Stay for coffee after the service, and join us for education hour; there's Sunday Church School for the young and Adult Forum for everyone else. Invite our pastor out for coffee during the week to chat. (He loves that!) Get to know us. We want to get to know you!
