Director of Children's Ministries, Mark Spitzack
Mark Spitzack
approaches children's ministry with a plainspoken and loving
philosophy: "It
is our responsibility and our joy to pass on to children the
church's heritage of liturgy and music. A musical education is every
child’s birthright, and a Christian education is a child’s
baptismal right.”
Mark J. Spitzack was raised in rural Morristown, Minnesota where he attended Trinity Lutheran School and Morristown High School. He did his undergraduate studies at Concordia University in Saint Paul, Minnesota, where he studied organ with John Eggert and harpsichord with Kathryn Schenk. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in church music and religious education and is currently pursuing a Master of Sacred Music degree from Luther Seminary in Saint Paul. Mark has served as a Director of Parish Music and Director of Christian Education for churches and schools in Saint Paul, Minnesota, Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Riverside, California. He has also been a
substitute teacher in the public school system.
Mark has been a member of Mount Olive since 1995. In addition to his involvement with
Children’s Ministries, he is one of our substitute organists, is a member of the Music and Fine Arts Committee, sings in
the Mount Olive Cantorei, and serves as a sacristan. He also substitutes as an organist and choir director at other churches in the Twin Cities metro area.
