There are many opportunities to become involved in the life of
the Mount Olive community. There are groups centered on work and
service, as well as for social gathering and support.
- 100th Anniversary Committee: Mount Olive turns 100
years old in 2009. This committee is in charge of planning for
this special event.
- Altar Guild: The Altar Guild sets up and cleans up before and after worship
services; wash linens and make sure we always have enough wine, wafers, candles and flowers on
hand; makes the baptismal banners and keeps track of where seasonal items are stored - the list is long. Check out the
Mount Olive Altar Guild Handbook
(PDF). You may even feel inspired to join!
- Book Discussion Group: This group meets monthly read,
reflect upon, and discuss a good book.
- Breakfast Club: A group that meets monthly at a
local restaurant for fellowship and conversation.
- CPR (Cleaning, Painting and Repair): Many
hands make light work. When the big projects come around, this
dedicated group of skilled volunteers can handle it: from fixing
the plumbing, to installing new lighting, to polishing the pews!
They dedicate their Thursday mornings to keeping the church
building in good repair.
- Depression Support Group: Many people feel isolated
and in need of support through the difficult times in life. This
group meets to help each other carry life's burdens of sadness
and struggle.
- Forward Look Committee: What will the next 5 years of
ministry look like at Mount Olive? How about 10 years out? This
committee is thinking it out and planning for our future growth.
- Foundation: The Mount
Olive Foundation was established as an endowment to ensure that
generations yet unborn would benefit from our church’s vibrant
ministries.
- Global Missions: Mount Olive supports six overseas
missions in various countries. Every year we celebrate a
"Taste of" A Nation" brunch, featuring foods,
music, and speakers from a different country.
- Heritage Committee: You don't know know where you're
going until you know where you've been. This group is dedicated
to discovering and sharing Mount Olive's past with present and
future generations.
- Library: Every church should
have such a dedicated group of library volunteers. Every
parishioner should take another look at what our fantastic
library has to offer!
- Meals on Wheels: Mount Olive provides drivers for one
week every month to deliver hot noon-time meals to shut-ins in
this much appreciated community ministry.
- Mount Olive Gay and Lesbian Network:
a social organization of gay, lesbian, transgender, bisexual and
allied persons who have been drawn to Mount Olive Lutheran
Church as a place of Christian worship and welcome.

Committee: Working to change unjust public policy or
policies that adversely affect the neighborhood.
- Mount Olive Women: A group
dedicated to enabling Christian women to achieve their highest
potential under God, in maturity toward Jesus Christ and in
ministry to God's people.
- Theological Discussion
Group: Do you like debating the finer points of doctrine
and theology? This group reads faith-based books and meets to
discuss them the first Sunday of each month.

Olive's young people meet during the school year for service
