Louise Schroedel Memorial Library
The
parish library at Mount Olive Lutheran Church was dedicated to the
glory of God on Sunday, November 14, 1965. It was named in memory
of Louise Schroedel, wife of Pastor Theophil Schroedel, because
of her generosity in loaning personal books to parishioners for
many years.
The parish lending library was established on the following principles:
- That the church is the one institution of society
which is primarily concerned with the development of Christian
personality. Therefore, a collection of (inspirational and devotional
resources that would help individuals of all ages to live and
grow as Christians should be a part of every church's trust and
concern.
- That a library would serve as a resource center
to support and strengthen the Sunday School and Adult Education
programs of the parish.
- That a library would offer resources for what
the Lutheran Church teaches about its great heritage and its goals
for the future.
- That the joy of sharing Christ's Gospel through
the printed page, by offering a balance of theology and inspiration,
challenge and comfort, study materials and pure enjoyment, should
remain a constant emphasis of such a parish library ministry.
Today our parish library contains over 5,000 books, videotapes,
periodicals and CDs, all supporting the total ministry of our congregation,
and all for loan to members of Mount Olive.
Some Mount Olive members use the library frequently, but all are
encouraged to avail themselves of the opportunity to discover the
rich treasures which await them within the library walls. Come and
browse the shelves!
