Mount Olive Women

The women's ministry of Mount Olive Church is an important part of the congregation. Our Lord calls us all to be servants. The purpose of the Mount Olive Women is to enable Christian women to achieve their highest potential under God, in maturity toward Jesus Christ and in ministry to God's people.

Goals

  • Spiritual Growth - to encourage spiritual growth for all women who attend Mount Olive Lutheran Church.
  • Evangelism - to provide opportunities for women to reach out to people who need Jesus Christ in their lives.
  • Missions - to involve all women who attend Mount Olive Lutheran Church in the global and local missions of Mount Olive.
  • Hospitality - to encourage hospitality and fellowship ministries that reach out to members and visitor
  • Service - to offer all women of our church opportunities for witness and ministry and to meet the special needs of people in our church, our community, and the world.

Ministries

Over the years, the Mount Olive Women has led a wide variety of ministries and special projects for our church:

  • Prayer chain and calling list
  • Purchase of large equipment and maintenance for both of the church kitchens
  • Sunshine ministry and communication with college students
  • Funeral ministry
  • Flower ministry, including the Easter Garden
  • Altar Guild and Communion preparation
  • Cancelled stamps to benefit Developmentally Disabled Citizens (Bielefeld, Germany)
  • Novemberfest Dinner, Auction, and program
  • Advent Teas
  • Catering for special events
  • Funding and management of the Chapel Lounge redecoration in 1997
  • Funding of the ceiling fans in the sanctuary

Mount Olive Women hold planning meetings 2 or 3 times per year, and are active all year around in many of the activities listed above. Mount Olive Women is a unit of the national Women of the ELCA and Minneapolis Area Synod's Women of the ELCA organizations. This organization is for ALL women of the church and we encourage and support participation in our fellowship and various ministries.
