Pastor Bill Heisley

The Rev. Dr. William A. Heisley began his pastorate at Mount Olive on the Feast of the Transfiguration, February 22, 1998, when he was installed as the sixth pastor of the then 89 year-old congregation.

Born and raised in Central Pennsylvania, Pastor Heisley was educated at Muhlenberg College (A.B.), the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Gettysburg (M. Div.), and the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia (D. Min.). His Clinical Pastoral Education was in a hospital in New York City, and his internship was served on the North Side of Pittsburgh. He was ordained in 1980 and served for twelve years as the pastor of Christ Lutheran Church, Upper Darby, PA, and for six years at Grace Lutheran Church, Pottstown, PA.

Mount Olive’s motto and mission statement is “Musical, Liturgical, Welcoming.” The reality of what these simple words represent drew Pastor Heisley to Mount Olive from a distance of 1,100 miles, and that same reality continually revitalizes his ministry.
