Evangelical Lutheran Worship Comes to Mount Olive - December
2006
| In December of 2006, Mount Olive welcomed
the new worship resource of the ELCA, Evangelical Lutheran
Worship (ELW), and retired it's well-worn and worthy Lutheran
Book of Worship (LBW) hymnals.
The delivery truck from Augsburg Fortress arrived to
deliver the boxes containing over 600 of the crisp, cranberry
red books...
...and they were temporarily stored
in the East assembly room.
On the Saturday before New Year's Eve, a crew of
dedicated Mount Olive members gathered in the sanctuary and
began plucking the LBWs from the pew racks. The green books
were piled onto carts... |
...and stacked in the work room.
Several members brought their vacuum cleaners from home to
help clean out any remaining dust in the pews.
While the nave was being cleaned and the pews
polished, another crew set up in the East assembly room to
work on setting the bookplates in the new red books. |
At last the new books were brought into
the
nave and installed in their pew racks.
Their morning labors completed, several people
took some time to leaf through and familiarize themselves with
the new book. |
