Feast of St. Francis - Blessing of the Animals - October 4, 2007

The Feast of St. Francis is a special day when we are priviledged to celebrate the gift of all God's creatures. We especially ask God's blessing upon our animal friends, who give us joy, and remind us of God's tender love for us.

Pet lovers of all ages bring their furry friends to church.
Pick a pew! Though, in the interest of keeping the peace, the dogs tend to end up in separate pews from the cats.
Asperges, sprinkling with water from the baptismal font, is a reminder of God's saving grace.
 Asperges is a joyful blessing!
Cats and dogs in abundance...and one sweet bunny
Each beloved pet receives a blessing by name.

Siamese, Tabby, Dachshund, Border Collie...
Even the  youngest among us wish their animal friends to receive a special blessing on this day.
Just about any pet can be brought forward for a blessing...

...provided it has legs!
