Columbarium Installation - January 2007
On January 8, 2007 the Eickhof company truck
arrived to deliver and install our columbarium. |
| The north transept as it was... |
The first pieces are installed in the north transept,
according to the blueprints.
The Eickhof builders labored through the day to assemble
all the initial components.
The main skeletal structure of the columbarium
was completed by the end of the day.
That evening, during a regularly scheduled meeting of the
Vestry, Pastor Heisley was able to give vestry members
an introduction to the new structure.

Vestry members examine one of the granite blocks that will
comprise the finished face of the columbarium.
Pastor Heisley also gave the vestry a preview of the icon that
will be mounted in the center of the columbarium.
The Eickhof builders, Shane and Brandon, stopped by the Vestry
meeting at the end of their work day to give an update of
their day's progress.
The builders returned the next day to
complete the initial construction, installing the granite
faces over the niches. |
The columbarium was blessed, and the icon of the
Ascension from the Mount of Olives was brought into the
sanctuary, during the second liturgy on Easter morning, 2007.
The internment of the first remains took place on April 28,
2007 at the funeral of Mount Olive patriarch + Elmer Jaster
+ who was instrumental in obtaining the columbarium for
Mount Olive.
The columbarium was blessed again when the icon of the
Ascension from the Mount of Olives was installed
as the centerpiece on the Feast of the Ascension, 2007. |
